It’s been quite some time since I posted anything. I’m sorry about that. I’ve been either getting ready to visit my “outlaws” in Nevada or already there.
For some folks that’s no big deal; for me, it is. It not only involves getting the usual things ready but getting a new computer with a new operating system to learn and figuring out how to put on programs that didn’t want to be installed.
This was all compounded by the fact that the trip was sort of sprung on me and I didn’t have the amount of time I’d expected to have when it occurred. In other words, it’s been hectic and frustrating.
Now I’m typing on an unfamiliar laptop instead of my desktop and even that is requiring some accommodation as my only internet connection is through painfully slow dial up.
But things have calmed down a bit and we’re getting ready for a family fiesta tonight. It promises to be a pretty big deal. Good thing I’m a “visitor” and am not expected to bring a potluck dish. Even if I had my kitchen here, I’d not be able to make anything up to the culinary level of these women.
There’s a lot of soul in this sort of thing and it’s a privilege to see it all emerge and swirl and become something new even while remaining itself.
“Soul food” has various meanings and they’re all going to be in evidence tonight. There will be food for the body that also feeds the soul, and dancing and music that delights and feeds the soul, and so much bonhomie that the soul may become glutted!
All cultures recognize the significance of this beginning of the turn of the earth’s axis, although the north and south hemispheres experience it in opposite directions and six months apart. It’s still a big deal.
This is a powerful and significant time, the solstice with a new moon. What happens now will set the tone for the coming year in ways we probably can’t foretell.
The soul, my soul, your soul, the world soul, will be having new experiences to be fed with. It’s the energy that appears now that will determine the “flavor” of that soul food. We need to do all we can to make we provide the best and purest base possible.
So I want to wish all of you soul-full holidays in whatever way you celebrate whatever holidays you celebrate at this time of year. Be happy, be holy, be lovely, be soul-full in whatever satisfies you.
From me, Merry Christmas (although that’s a leftover from my old culture and religion, it’s heartfelt in meaning), Feliz Navidad from my outlaws, and a very happy and prosperous New Year.
Soulful Holidaygreetings,Sam! it is good to hear from you. I certainly can relate to computer frustrations. Hope you are reveling in family, food and song.
Blessings for a New Year filled with health, hope and lots of soul!
Kathy

Thanks, Kathy. I don’t revel too well but there’s something different about this year, don’t know what, but I think I may learn a new trick – reveling! LOL I’m sure gonna give it a go, anyway. Sam

Hey, with eight kids and their kids’ kids and more kids, it’s pretty hard not to have a good time. I have a feeling that this is going to a significant time for some reason so I’m gonna reel it in for all it’s worth. Have a good ‘un! Sam

Hello Sam – it has been years since I last heard from you, back in Jung-L days. I am happy to have stumbled upon your WordPress site and have made sure to bookmark it for future reading. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Hello, Robert!! How great to hear from you! I’m glad you stumbled on my humble blog. I make entries in it rather sporadically and that’s something I need to work on. It can be difficult for me to believe the thoughts I have should be “published” but I’m trying to overcome that. *G* I’ve been out of town for about a month so the blog languished even more than usual, not because I didn’t have thoughts, but because I was constrained by having only dialup for my computer. Dialup is exhausting! Now I’m back home again so once I get caught up and rested up from my “vacation” I’ll try to begin posting more regularly again. Thanks for dropping by and for commenting. Sam
